Summit on Nonviolence Planned after Park Death

Posted/updated on: August 8, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Briana Raquel YoungTYLER — Some community members are responding to the recent shooting death of a young Tyler woman at a local park. On Monday, August 12, at 6:00pm, Rev. Jerome Milton will host a Community wide Summit on Nonviolence at Greater New Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 502 North Horace. Police believe Bri’ana Young, 20, was caught in gang crossfire when she was killed last month at P.T. Cole Park. Young was accompanied by her three-year-old child, who survived. Police continue to investigate.

The theme of Monday’s event is “Got to go back to get on track.” The promotional flyer also says, “Peace for me.. for us.. for everyone.. for the planet. Be the change you want to see.” For more information, you’re asked to contact Rev. Milton at 903-617-9509 or 593-5911.
