TxDOT Project Updates

TxDOT signTYLER — Here’s a quick look at other work planned in the Tyler District of the Texas Department of Transportation.

UNDATED – Work associated the Texas Department of Transportation’s annual preventative maintenance program known as District-Wide Seal Coat is scheduled to continue this week in the Whitehouse area and then move into the Overton area as it moves through all eight counties of the Tyler District. They will be treating nearly 300 miles of roadway before concluding work in August.

Beginning Monday, crews are scheduled to seal State Highway 110 between Farm Road 346 in Whitehouse and Toll 49 between Whitehouse and Tyler. Once that work is completed, crews are scheduled to perform the same work on Farm Road 848, again between Farm Road 346 in Whitehouse and State Highway 64 east of Tyler. Then as early as Wednesday, crews are scheduled to move into the Overton area, sealing Farm Road 3053 between Overton and the Gregg County Line near Farm Road 1639, then State Highway 135 through Overton between the Smith County Line on the south end of town and State Highway 42 in New London. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas. Loose gravel may be present for several days following a seal coat application.

SMITH COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to make pavement repairs on State Highway 155 between Interstate Highway 20 and Farm Road 16 in Winona. A second crew is scheduled to perform edge repairs in various locations on Farm Road 14 between North Loop 323 in Tyler and Interstate 20. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

Two construction projects are scheduled to begin next month in Smith County, including:
* State Highway 64 – Widen to five lanes between Tyler Pounds Regional Airport and County Road 1184. The $2.4 million project let to contract in May and is scheduled to begin August 5. Big Creek Construction, Ltd, of Hewitt, is the contractor.
* Spur 364, Farm Road 2908 – Widen Spur 264 to add turn lanes and resurface between State Highway 31 and Loop 323 in Tyler, and add shoulders between Greenbriar Road and Loop 323. Add shoulders to Farm Road 2908 between Old Longview Highway and County Road 393. The $2.9 million project let to contract in May and is scheduled to begin August 12. Big Creek Construction, Ltd, of Hewitt, is the contractor.

RUSK COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on State Highway 322 between Farm Road 850 and Farm Road 1249. A second crew is scheduled to perform spot resurfacing operations on Farm Road 1249 southeast of Kilgore between Farm Road 2276 and State Highway 322. Elsewhere, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to perform base and pavement repair work on U.S. Highway 84 east of Mount Enterprise between Farm Road 95 and Farm Road 1971. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.

QUITMAN – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs in Quitman on State Highway 37 between the Dairy Queen and the Courthouse, and on State Highway 154 between the eastern edge of the current construction project and the Ford dealership at the SH 154/SH 37 “Y.” Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.

CHEROKEE COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on U.S. Highway 84 between U.S. Highway 69 in Rusk and the Rusk County Line. A second crew is scheduled to begin edge work on Farm Road 2137 between Farm Road 344 west of Bullard and Farm Road 855 north of Cuney. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

ANDERSON COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform edge repairs on Farm Road 2574 between Farm Road 19 in Neches and U.S. Highway 79 near the Cherokee County Line. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform resurfacing operations on Farm Road 1861 between State Highway 19 in Walton and Farm Road 2339 south of Martins Mill. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.
