Smith County Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Violations

TYLER — A Smith County man will be going to federal prison for drug trafficking violations. A federal grand jury returned an indictment on November 7, 2012 charging Jose Eduardo Moreno, 39, of Tyler, with federal drug trafficking crimes. He pleaded guilty on February 4 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Moreno was sentenced yesterday to 70 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider. Federal prosecutors say Moreno was found in possession of approximately 52 grams of methamphetamine which he intended to distribute in the Eastern District of Texas.
