LONGVIEW — Hot food that was thrown away is said to be responsible for a fire that damaged a Longview home. It happened around 12:15 yesterday afternoon in the 1500 block of Houston Street. Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said the homeowner discarded gravy that hadn’t cooled yet. This set a trash can on fire, which ignited a nearby wall with wood paneling. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen and the attic. Two persons were at home when the fire started, but they were able to escape without any injuries.
