thumb_police-4MT. PLEASANT — A Pittsburg man and his wife were last reported in critical condition in East Texas Medical Center in Tyler following a wreck Saturday in Mount Pleasant. KETK and the Longview News-Journal report Mark Jones, 63, and Pamela Jones, 59, were thrown from the motorcycle they were riding. Neither was wearing a helmet, said Mount Pleasant Police Chief Wayne Isbell in a statement issued Monday.

Isbell said the wreck occurred when Robert Viviano, 28, of Titus County, turned left in front of the Jones motorcycle, which was northbound on South Jefferson. Isbell said both drivers took evasive actions to avoid a collision. Viviano accelerated into the parking lot while Jones applied the brakes, losing control of the bike, according to Isbell. Neither Viviano nor two other occupants in his vehicle were hurt. Viviano was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. Mark and Pamela Jones were flown to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler with life threatening injuries.
