Man Charged in Brother’s Murder

Jeffrey Allen MillerLONGVIEW — A Gregg County man remains in the county jail on a murder charge almost two weeks after his brother had been fatally stabbed. The Longview News-Journal reports Sheriff Maxey Cerliano says the arrest of Jeffrey Allen Miller, 28, is in connection with the June 24th death of his brother, Jeremy Dewayne Miller, 27. He died at a Longview hospital from a stab wound to his abdomen.

The incident occurred on McQueen Road, off Farm Road 1252. His younger brother was arrested four days later. The arrest came a day after the suspect was indicted by the Gregg County grand jury for forging a financial instrument and fraudulent use or possession of identification. He was arraigned on the murder charge Saturday morning. He remains in jail under bonds totaling $580,000.

As previously reported by KTBB, The older brother was arrested in February after being accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested after he was accused of twice slashing his brother’s face with a steak knife. The victim told officers that he and his brother had been in a heated argument. He also said his brother was drunk at the time.
