jacksonfordaTYLER — Lindale resident Austin Reeve Jackson Monday filed the paperwork necessary to officially pursue the Republican nomination for Smith County District Attorney. Jackson is a double board certified, third-generation Smith County attorney. He says he made the decision “after much encouragement and consideration.” He cited his family’s “history of service to this county, state, and nation.” Jackson adds, “I look forward to sharing my ideas for safer towns and lower taxes as well as hearing from the community over the next several months.”

Jackson is a graduate of Lindale High School, the University of Dallas, and the Texas Tech School of Law. He has served as an Assistant District Attorney in Gregg County, where he rose to become the chief appellate attorney. Jackson later practiced as a criminal trial attorney in Williamson and Travis Counties. In 2008, he moved back to Smith County to open the Jackson Law Firm.

Jackson has received a number of awards and recognitions. According to a news release, Jackson last year became the youngest attorney in Texas to be double board certified in both criminal law and criminal appellate law. He is the 2013 Smith County Young Lawyer of the Year and has three times been named a Texas Super Lawyer Rising Star. According to the release, that’s an honor bestowed on the top 2.5% of Texas attorneys. Jackson and his waife, Laura, have been active grassroots supporters for a number of Republican candidates.
