New CEO for Good Shepherd Health System

LONGVIEW — The board that oversees Good Shepherd Health System has ended an 8 month search for a new president and chief operating officer. It was announced yesterday morning that certified public accountant Steve Altmiller from Tupelo, Mississippi, has been named to the post. During his 35 year career, Altmiller has headed hospitals in Texas in New Mexico. Currently, he is president of North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Altmiller will succeed the hospital system’s former CEO Ed Banos. He was released from the post last September. Since then, the hospital system has been headed by the system’s executive vice president Ken Cunningham.
Following yesterdays’ announcement, board chairman Buck Birdsong released a statement saying, “We are looking forward to the leadership that Mr. Altmiller will bring to Good Shepherd.”
