KETK reports that every year, the training involves current events affecting the community. Some very timely items topped the agenda this year: terrorism, gangs, and school safety. Attendees talked about such items as the Boston Marathon bombing and the Sandy HOok shooting, and what officers can learn from such incidents. Other subjects included current drug cartel issues and how they’re affecting Texas. Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith was a guest speaker.
