Smith County Man Charged with Murder

TYLER — A shooting on Eastside Drive has left a dad dead just before Father’s Day and his son charged with murder. Killed was Steven Lacey White, 62. James Jason White, 40, has been booked into the Smith County Jail. Bond was set at $500,000.
Around 11:15 last night the Smith County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a man with chest pains. When they arrived, they found Steven White had been shot in the chest. He was taken to Tyler’s East Texas Medical Center where Justice of the Peace Gary Alfred pronounced him dead. His son was taken into custody at the scene. An arrest warrant charging White with murder was issued by 114th State District Judge Christi Kennedy.
