loanrangerDALLAS — A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the “Loan Ranger Bandit.” He’s believed responsible for ten bank robberies in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas, dating to January 2009, including two in Tyler. The FBI and local police in those three states are involved in the hunt. During the robberies, the armed man, who does not attempt to disguise his face, displayed a note demanding 20s, 50s and 100s and received an undisclosed amount of money. To date, no one has been physically harmed.

The robber is described as a white male in his early 30s, approximately 5’7” to 6’0” tall, approximately 200 pounds, with a medium build. He has short light brown hair, wears glasses, and has a small mole or mark just above his right eye on the lower part of his forehead. His varied clothing styles have included athletic wear, jeans, and business attire. He was dubbed the “Loan Ranger Bandit” for the blue Texas Rangers baseball cap he has worn while robbing banking institutions where loans are offered. The suspect may drive a maroon Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck with a thin white pinstripe around the truck bed.

The suspect is believed responsible for the August 31, 2011, robbery of Altra Federal Credit Union at 5523 Troup Highway and the May 17, 2012, heist of BBVA Compass Bank at 6910 South Broadway Ave., both in Tyler. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information concerning this case, you’re asked to submit a tip online at: http://tips.fbi.gov or call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
