Convicted Killer Back in Custody

TYLER — Tyler police have arrested one person for drug and weapons violations. The arrest came as officers executed a search warrant shortly after 5:15 Thursday afternoon at 2825 Cushing Drive. Investigators recovered crack cocaine, marijuana and seven firearms from the residence. Richard Earl Hartsfield, age 45, was arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in a drug free zone, unlawful possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon. Hartsfield was on parole following a 1992 murder conviction.
