City Not Affiliated with Solicitations for Water Line Warranties

TYLER — The City of Tyler Water Utilities Department advises residents that notices being distributed by home warranty companies regarding service line warranties are not affiliated with the City of Tyler. “We are receiving many calls from our customers about these solicitations,” said Managing Director of Utilities and Public Works Greg Morgan. “We just want to ensure that our customers act with due diligence in determining whether to purchase this coverage for their home. They should not assume this coverage is endorsed by the City of Tyler.”
City of Tyler ordinances do state that property owners are responsible for the maintenance and repair of water and sewer service lines as outlined below:
· From the meter to the structure for water service
· From the structure out to, and including, the connection to the City main for sewer service
“While many residents may choose to purchase this coverage, the City does not endorse any particular company and urges residents to thoroughly research the provider and coverage,” adds Morgan.
