Texas Unemployment Rate Rises, Tyler’s Drops

AUSTIN (AP/STAFF) — The unemployment rate in Texas rose slightly last month to 6.4%. But it remains below the 7.1% recorded a year ago and last month’s national rate of 7.7%. State officials say Texas added about 81,000 jobs in February with construction and manufacturing and professional and business services leading the way.
While unemployment was going up state wide, it was dropping in some northeast Texas cities. In Tyler, The February unemployment rate was 6.6%. A Month earlier it was 7.2%. Longview also saw a drop. It went from 6.2% in January to 5.7% last month.
