East Texas Gets Part of Wildfire Recovery Grant

wildfire3WASHINGTON (AP) – A $406,000 federal grant will help Texas fund temporary jobs as cleanup and recovery efforts continue from devastating 2011 wildfires, including some in East Texas. The U.S. Department of Labor on Monday announced the latest National Emergency Grant that pushes the Texas total to more than $1.2 million.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency previously declared 32 Texas counties eligible for public assistance. The grant will help pay for continued recovery in Anderson, Bastrop, Bosque, Briscoe, Cass, Cherokee, Clay, Colorado, Coryell, Edwards, Gregg, Hall, Harrison, Henderson, Hill, Houston, Howard, Kimble, Leon, Marion, Menard, Montague, Morris, Navarro, Nolan, Panola, Rusk, Smith, Sutton, Upshur, Walker and Wise counties.
