Area Sheriffs Back Second Amendment

Posted/updated on: January 31, 2013 at 5:07 pm

EAST TEXAS — Area sheriffs surveyed by our news partner KETK continue to voice their support for the Second Amendment, amid the ongoing gun rights debate. Cherokee County Sheriff James Campbell says sheriffs across the state took an oath New Year’s Day “and swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and…the Texas Constitution, and I’m sure that’s what all sheriffs plan to do.” Gregg County’s Maxey Cerliano supplied a statement reading, “I have taken an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this state. This includes the Second Amendment, and that is my intent.” Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith weighed in earlier with similar sentiments.
