Retired Dentist’s 911 Call Played at Trial

TYLER (AP) – Jurors in the Tyler trial of a retired dentist charged with killing his 71-year-old wife have heard his 911 call in which he told a dispatcher he shot her and she died. Prosecutors on Wednesday played a tape of the call made by Bobby Nichols admitting he shot his wife twice after an argument. The Tyler man is on trial over the death of Rosalind Nichols, his wife of 26 years. Nichols has acknowledged he “screwed up” the night of June 29 and said he shot his spouse in their home. His stepdaughter’s husband, David Dial, testified the two men got along well but he did see Bobby and Rosalind Nichols argue and Bobby “lose his cool.” If convicted, Nichols faces up to life in prison.
