North Carolina Woman Guilty of Dealing Meth in East Texas

TYLER – A 27-year-old Hickory, N.C., woman has pleaded guilty in Tyler to federal drug trafficking violations. Chelsea Elizabeth McDowell pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.
According to prosecutors, up until January 29, 2011, McDowell conspired with others to assist in transporting methamphetamine and money obtained from selling drugs in East Texas. McDowell admitted to being responsible for distributing approximately 15 kilograms of methamphetamine to others in the area. A federal indictment was returned on April 11, 2012, charging McDowell and others with federal drug crimes. McDowell faces at least 10 years and up to life in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
