Local Unemployment Drops

EAST TEXAS (AP/STAFF) — Unemployment in Tyler and Longview has fallen while in Texas, it remains steady. The Texas Workforce Commission reports the July jobless rate in Tyler in August was 7.2%. It was 7.4% a month earlier. In Longview, unemployment fell from 6.6% in July to 6.2% last month. Texas’ unemployment rate held steady in August at 7.1%. It was also 7.1% in July. In August 2011, the unemployment rate was 8.1% .
