Three Tyler Doctors Disciplined
Posted/updated on: September 13, 2012 at 11:19 amTYLER — Three doctors in Tyler are disciplined for ethical violations. According to KETK, one doctor sent inappropriate messages to a patient. Another failed to monitor a patients narcotics intake, resulting in an overdose. And the third doctor failed to follow up on an abnormal chest x-ray, in which the patient was later diagnosed with lung cancer. Tyler physician Dr. Hope Short says the Medical Board of Examiners holds doctors accountable to the highest standards. She says, “It’s extremely important. We are going to be held to a different standard because of how we are held and looked at in the community by our patients. It’s inappropriate to have inappropriate relations with a patient.” Dr. Short added that physicians are obligated to follow up with patients on their lab values every time they order a test.
