TYLER — Gateway to Hope, a new day resource center for Tyler’s homeless population, opened Monday at 601 East Valentine Street. Gateway to Hope officials say homelessness affects adults and children, and they specifically point to its effects on veterans. The resource center’s mission is “To provide the needed resources and training to help people find and obtain employment and thus end homelessness.” Gateway to Hope offers photo IDs, mailboxes, a message center, computer access, a barber shop, showers, laundry facilities, and opportunities to network with social and job agencies.
