Victim’s Name Released in Fatal Industrial Accident
Posted/updated on: July 20, 2010 at 11:13 amTYLER — The identity of a man killed in a conveyor belt accident Saturday morning in Tyler has been released. Eric Ferguson, 41, Big Sandy, was employed by C and C Trans Load Company. Tyler Police say they responded to a call in the 1000 block of East Commerce after an incident involving a man trapped in a conveyor belt. Officers say Ferguson became trapped while loading sand like material from a railroad train hopper car onto a conveyor belt into a container mounted on the back of tractor trailer truck. The Tyler Fire Department was able to eventually free him and he was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. All details and witness statements of this incident indicate that this was an accidental death. OSHA officials will also conduct an investigation.
