NACOGDOCHES — A split jury means a mistrial for Steven Lynn Skidmore, who is accused of burning down his then girlfriend Tammy Gilbert’s home December 17, 2010. According to KETK, in Nacogdoches County Tuesday, the jury forewoman said after just under four hours of deliberations, three votes and much discussion, there was no hope of reaching a unanimous verdict. Following a motion by Skidmore’s attorney, Gene Caldwell, Klein declared a mistrial, paving the way for another trial at a later date. While the jurors declined to comment after the mistrial was declared, one was overheard telling another juror, “My gut feeling is he probably did it.”
