Police Continue Investigating Fatal Lumber Accident

KILGORE — Authorities continue to investigate after a customer is killed in an industrial accident Friday at East Texas Lumber in Kilgore. Police say a pallet of lumber fell on Joseph Barber, 56, of New London. The company says a forklift operator was lifting the wood into place when it suddenly dislodged. Police were asked if the mishap would be called a freak accident. According to KETK, they’re leaning toward yes but are still investigating whether the lumber yard is at fault.
