Longview Officer Stable after Wreck

LONGVIEW – A two-vehicle accident has injured a Longview police officer. On Thursday at 6:07 p.m., Longview police were dispatched to an accident with injuries at the intersection of McCann Road and West Loop 281. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Officer Jose Montalvo had been responding to a call on the west side of town with his lights and siren on. As he entered the intersection, he was hit by a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Aaron Matte Hoescher of Kilgore. The impact sent Officer Montalvo’s patrol car ran several yards down an embankment on the northwest side of the intersection.

Officer Montalvo was transported to Longview Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Hoescher and a passenger in his vehicle were taken by private car to another health care facility. At this time no charges have been filed against the driver of the Dodge truck, but the accident remains under investigation. Officer Montalvo was admitted to the hospital for observation, and is in stable condition. KETK reports Hoescher was treated and released.
