TYLER — Internet safety remains a top focus for local authorities. On this week’s KTBB “Staff Meeting,” Community Response Officer James McCraw with the Tyler Police Department shares a list of do’s and don’ts, for kids and adults alike. For one thing, he says parents need to be familiar with their kids’ favorite Internet sites. He also suggests establishing clear rules — and seeing that computers are kept in a family room or other high-traffic area of the home to promote better parental supervision.
Additionally, McCraw discusses a local multi-agency web safety collaboration. The Committee to RAISE Tyler consists of the police department, SuddenLink, Tyler ISD, and Discovery Science Place. “RAISE” stands for “Raising Awareness of Internet Safety through Education.” For more information, you can visit http://www.tylerpolice.com or call 903-531-1096.
