Hidalgo County Woman Guilty in East Texas Drug Trafficking Scheme

TYLER — A 39-year-old San Juan, Texas woman has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking violations in East Texas. In an appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love in Tyler, Annette Alvarez pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Federal prosecutors contend Alvarez was found in possession of approximately 13 kilograms of cocaine, which she intended to deliver to another person for distribution. Alvarez faces a minimum of 10 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
