TYLER — Mother Frances Hospital observes its 75th anniversary with several events, including a strong nod to the infamous New London School explosion on March 18, 1937. That tragic event resulted in 298 deaths and numerous injuries, and prompted the hospital to open a day earlier than planned. According to hospital spokesman John Moore, “Because of that, we will forever share a kinship with the people of New London and those who were injured and lost.” This afternoon, the hospital scheduled a public signing of “Gone at 3:17,” a book about the New London event. Co-author David Brown was joined at Mother Frances’s Wisenbaker Conference Center by Jimmie (Jordan) Robinson, a student who survived the blast.
