Ninth Anniversary of Columbia Disaster

TYLER — Wednesday marked the ninth anniversary of the deadly Shuttle Columbia disaster over East Texas. Tylerite Scott Lieberman is well-known for his photo of the incident. He tells KETK, “It did look a little unusual. There seemed to be some trailing…dots of light. Then we realized that, in fact, we were seeing the…disintegration of the vehicle.” With the shuttle missions now over, NASA is preparing for whatever comes next. Regardless, it’s worth noting that as of this month, NASA’s no longer accepting applications to become an astronaut.
