Longview Fire Department Names First Woman Officer

LONGVIEW — Six Longview firefighters got new badges this week, including the department’s first woman firefighter to promote to officer. Longview Fire Chief J.P. Steelman said firefighters Amy Dodgen and Eric Karling were promoted to lieutenant; Olan Doxey and Josh Tanner were promoted to captain; and Tim Maricle was promoted to driver. According to KETK and the Longview News-Journal, Steelman said Dodgen is the first woman firefighter in the department’s history to be promoted past a firefighter and paramedic.
