Jacksonville Man Arrested after Chase

JACKSONVILLE — A Jacksonville man crashed a car into a telephone pole trying to evade police. Jacksonville Police Sgt. Jason Price said the department received a frantic 911 call from a woman concerning someone attempting to break into her home on John Street in Jacksonville. Patrol officer Doug Yount responded to the call. Once there, he saw the suspect, Paul Taylor, 53, of Jacksonville fleeing the scene. Price said Yount told the man to stop, and when he did not the officer called for backup. Police say a high speed chase through town ended when Taylor struck a telephone pole. Taylor was injured in the crash. He was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Jacksonville where he is listed in fair condition. He’s faced with two possible felonies.
