Drug Arrest in Van Zandt County

CANTON – A car stuck in the mud has turned into a drug arrest in Van Zandt County. Officers answering a trespassing call found the car on County Road 1804. A man and a woman were in the car, which was registered to the man, Michael Lee Herrera of Quitman. Herrera was taken into custody when it was discovered he was wanted on a narcotics warrant for methamphetamine out of Dallas County.
During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies found about 30 grams of meth, scales used to weigh and measure drugs and small baggies used for the distribution of narcotics. Herrera is being held with no bond. He is also facing additional charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. The woman was released.
