ARP – The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for their 2026 Training Camp in Oxnard, California, but on Saturday, Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown returned home to Arp to hold his 4th Annual Back-to-School Giveaway.
According to our news partner KETK, kids from Arp and around East Texas showed up in droves at Arp City Park where Overshown, along with his friends and family, gave away backpacks and school supplies to these kids ahead of the upcoming school year.
Overshown, who’s entering his fourth season in the NFL, all with the Cowboys, said it’s important to him to come home and give back to the community that raised him and supports him on and off the football field.
“It’s just like putting oil in your car, putting gasoline in your car. It’s just refueling that fire in me. Coming home and feeling the love. A lot of people…even talking to my teammates. They came to my wedding. They seen how close my family is. They seen how my community supports me and they was like, ‘I wish I had something like that.’ So when you got shoulders to stand on, you got people to pick you up when you down, it means a lot. So coming back here and feeling that and showing my face to know like I’m still that East Texas, that Arp kid. I ain’t went nowhere. I’m just on a bigger stage right now but I’ll never forget where I come from,” Overshown said.
Overshown and the Cowboys start training camp on Wednesday, July 29 in Oxnard, California. Dallas opens the season on the road at its’ NFC East foe, the New York Giants, on Sunday Night Football.
