Romo withdraws from Texas State Open

TYLER – Former Cowboys QB Tony Romo has withdrawn from this week’s 56th M&P Group Texas State Open, after he was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated on Thursday. The Cascades Country Club in Tyler confirmed to our news partner KETK, on Sunday that Romo has withdrawn from this year’s tournament at their course. Romo has been a common sight at the tournament in recent years alongside many professional golfers.
Romo’s withdraw comes after he was arrested in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday night and charged with a first-offense of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Romo played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys from 2004 to 2016 but is a native of Wisconsin.
Those in this year’s Texas State Open will compete for a $200,000 purse starting on Tuesday July 28, at the Cascades Country Club in Tyler.
