Tony Romo arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated

(NEXSTAR) – Former Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee for allegedly driving while intoxicated, according to an arrest report from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
The former quarterback “performed poorly” during a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, the arresting officer wrote. Officers stopped Romo around 6 p.m. while he was driving south on Interstate 43, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
Romo was booked under a first-offense charge of OWI and released. Romo, who played with the Dallas Cowboys from 2004 to 2016, grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin, where he played quarterback for his high school team.
He is due in court Sept. 21.
