Machete attacker get 45 yearsQUITMAN – The last of three people who assaulted a Wood County woman in 2023 was sentenced to 45 years in state prison on Friday.According to our news partner KETK, Acey Joe Farris, 64 of Quitman sentenced to serve 45 years in state prison by visiting Judge Paul Banner on Friday in connection to an assault that happened in Wood County in 2023.

On April 6 2023, Farris, Bryan Scott Ransom and Ruby Dee Isaacs went to a Wood County woman’s property without permission at around 10:30 p.m. that night.

According to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office, Farris, Ransom and Isaacs had a verbal dispute with the property owner and began attacking her with a metal pole and a machete that they had brought to the property.

A press release from the DA’s office stated that Isaacs struck the female property owner in the face and body with the metal pole repeatedly before Farris started hitting the woman with the machete and kicking her. The victim received stitches in her chin and staples in her forehead after the assault.

“There is no doubt that the people of Wood County are safer now that the Defendant will be behind bars,” Wood County District Attorney Angela Albers said. “Violent offenders in Wood County will continue to be held accountable for their violent actions and suffer severe consequences.”

Farris was sentenced to serve 45 years in state prison on Friday after he was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unrelated charges for possesion of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. He’ll be eligible for parole in 22 and a half years.

Isaacs was sentenced to 30 years in state prison in March of 2026 and Ransom was 65 years in state prison in connection to the assault in May.
