Clayton Tucker applauds Henderson County community after proposed AI data center withdraws

LAMPASAS – Candidate for Texas Agriculture Commissioner Clayton Tucker praised Henderson County residents Thursday after a proposed AI data center near Cedar Creek Lake was withdrawn, according to local officials. Diode Ventures informed county leaders that it will no longer pursue development at the Key Ranch-Cedar Creek Lake location, after hearing concerns from residents and local leaders, officials said.

The proposal sparked widespread community engagement, including public meetings, thousands of petition signatures, and calls for stronger state oversight of large-scale AI infrastructure projects. “This is a victory for the people of Henderson County,” Tucker said. “When Texans organize, stay informed, and speak with one voice, they can make even the largest corporations stop and listen.”

“The Henderson County community showed what happens when ordinary Texans refuse to be ignored,” Tucker continued. “This should be the standard across Texas. Every community deserves transparency, meaningful local input, and a fair review before billion-dollar AI projects break ground.” Tucker cautioned that while this proposal has been withdrawn, similar projects continue to be proposed across Texas.

“The fight isn’t over,” Tucker said. “Developers are still looking at communities across our state. Texans deserve leaders who will put people first and protect our water, farmland, and way of life before another irresponsible AI data center breaks ground.”
