Diocese names Vicar GeneralTYLER – Bishop Gregory Kelly named longtime priest Rev. Hank Lanik as the new vicar general for the Diocese of Tyler. According to our news partner KETK, Lanik has been a priest for the Diocese of Tyler since he was ordained in May 2011 after attending St. Mary’s Seminary and the University of St. Thomas in Houston.

Since joining the Diocese of Tyler, Lanik has served in several pastoral and leadership roles in East Texas, most recently as rector at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and formerly as pastor of St. Patrick’s and St. Andrew’s in Lufkin.

“I am grateful for Father Lanik’s generous priestly service and his willingness to assume this important responsibility,” Kelly said. “I know that you join me in offering him your support and prayers as he begins this ministry. Together, may we faithfully love and serve the People of God entrusted to our care.”

Lanik will be taking over as vicar general for Bishop John Gomez, who was recently named the bishop of the Diocese of Laredo.
