Tyler residents celebrate new mayor

TYLER – Many Tyler residents arrived at the Glass Recreation Center on Sunday afternoon to show their support for the city’s new mayor, Stuart Hene, who held the event to show his gratitude for those who supported him during his campaign. According to our news partner KETK, those who supported Hene throughout his campaign had the opportunity to congratulate him in person and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter for Tyler’s government.

During the event, Hene spoke about his desire to remain approachable to community members as he begins his tenure in this new position. “I want to maintain as much accountability and as much exposure as possible,” Hene said. “I l felt like I did a good job doing that while on council and it will be something I will maintain as mayor.”

Smith County Republican Party Chairman David Stein attended the event and he expressed his optimism for Hene beginning his tenure and the positive changes he will make to Tyler.

Just a month into his first term as mayor, Hene said he and his team will continue to build off the momentum they have built over the past months as they begin to serve the people of Tyler.
