Bernie Tiede prosecutor, former Panola County DA, died Sunday

CARTHAGE – Danny Buck Davidson died July 5th at age 79. He was portrayed in the movie, “Bernie,” about the convicted murderer Davidson sent to prison. Actor Matthew McConaughey starred as Davidson in the film. The original murder trial happened in 1999, and in 2016, the case was retried.
Davidson was district attorney for nearly 30 years, having just retired two years ago, saying he wanted to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.
He graduated from Baylor Law School in 1974. Funeral services are pending.
