Man sentenced for sexual abuse

WOOD COUNTY – A man from East Texas was given a 25-year prison sentence for repeatedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old. On June 15, Donald Ray Cady, 45, of Alba, entered a guilty plea to charges of persistent sexual abuse of a young child. After that, he received a 25-year sentence. In addition, he was mandated to pay $1,100 in fines and court expenses. Additionally, Cady is not permitted to be within 200 yards of the victim or their parents or to interact with them in any way. According to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office, he must also register as a sexual offender for the remainder of his life.

According to the district attorney’s office, the allegations against Cady were first brought to the attention of the Alba Police Department in 2022 when the victim and her friend discussed the sexual assault and sexually explicit text messages with the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center in Winnsboro.
