Kilgore College will formally install Dr. Staci Martin as the institution’s 10th president during an investiture ceremony scheduled for Tuesday morning in Dodson Auditorium on the Kilgore campus. The ceremony marks a significant milestone in the college’s history as Dr. Martin officially assumes the role of president following her appointment by the KC Board of Trustees, according to Kilgore College administration officials. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are invited to attend.
Investiture ceremonies are longstanding academic traditions that symbolize the formal conferring of leadership and authority upon a college or university president. The event will feature remarks from college leaders and distinguished guests.
“An investiture is both a celebration of institutional history and a look toward the future,” Dr. Martin said. “I am honored to serve as Kilgore College’s president and look forward to working alongside our students, employees, alumni and community partners as we continue advancing the college’s mission.”
In addition to the ceremony, the college will host a Presidential Welcome Reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in the Devall Ballroom, located at 1116 Broadway Blvd.
The reception will provide an opportunity to greet Dr. Martin and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in the college’s history. Dr. Martin was appointed president by the KC Board of Trustees on May 11 and became the 10th president in the institution’s 91-year history.
Both events are open to the public.
