LINDALE – The cause of death for 8-year-old Adrian Thompson, who had a medical emergency at Velma Penny Elementary School in Lindale in April, has been announced by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Adrian Sue Thompson died in a pediatric intensive care unit on April 16 at around one in the morning. According to a recent report from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, her death was determined to be accidental and to have been caused by choking.
On April 15, Thompson experienced a medical emergency at her school. In April, the Lindale ISD (LISD) reported that the school nurse saved her life after she choked. According to the statement, these efforts included CPR, a LifeVac device, and the Heimlich maneuver. After receiving treatment at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, she was eventually declared deceased. The Thompson family and the Lindale community will be informed of the results of the Texas Rangers’ official investigation into her death, according to district officials, who made this announcement nearly a week after her passing. The school district stated that it is also looking for an impartial, outside organization to examine emergency response protocols and safety gear. According to LISD, it will create a strategic plan to improve and broaden emergency response training for all employees.
