Fatal shooting between brothersHARRISON COUNTY – After receiving calls Tuesday evening, Harrison County Sheriff’s deputies were initially sent to a shooting at 165 Pine Valley Road in Harleton. They discovered that Jamail Boer, 38, was dead and that his brother had been shot. According to reports, Boer’s brother filed a report alleging that Boer had stolen multiple firearms, which led to the altercation. Then Boer went into the tiny bedroom and declared his intention to murder his brother.

While his brother was holding his niece, Boer aimed a gun at him. Witnesses told deputies that Boer’s brother immediately grabbed a nearby rifle in response to the threat, and the two brothers engaged in “quite a bit of gunfire.” Six rifle casings and eight 40-caliber pistol casings were discovered at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, Boer received CPR in the kitchen until authorities arrived after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and a few to his limbs. At 1:47 a.m. on Wednesday, a justice of the peace declared him dead at the scene after deputies and EMS discovered him unconscious. After being discovered with a gunshot wound on his left hand, the brother was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is presently recovering and assisting with the investigation. The case has been classified as a homicide, but the sheriff’s office said no arrests are planned at this time, as it is considered self-defense and protection of a third party. The district attorney’s office will now review the case in more detail.
