PALESTINE – Three adults were arrested on Sunday after Palestine Police Department found several pounds of suspected meth in a vehicle with an 8-month-old infant. According to our news partner KETK, detectives with Palestine PD’s Street Crimes Unit did a traffic stop on a black 2007 Dodge Nitro for a traffic violation on Loop 256 at Benbrook Drive at around 12:39 a.m. on Sunday.
Laura Lee Dorsey, 35 of Tyler, was arrested after detectives found she was allegedly driving the vehicle without a valid driver’s license, according to Palestine PD. The two passengers in the vehicle, Julio Cesar Roa, 30 of Tyler, and Stephanie Raquel Silva, 30 of Tyler, were also then arrested after Palestine PD said seven kilograms of suspected methamphetamines were found in a duffel bag during a search of the vehicle’s passenger compartment.
Roa and Silva were in the vehicle with their 8-month-old daughter, who’s now been taken into the custody of Child Protective Services following Roa and Silva’s arrest. Roa and Silva were both charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and abandoning/endangering a child. Dorsey also faces those same charges along with her charge for driving with an expired driver’s license.
