SMITH COUNTY — A man is being sought in Smith County for two felony warrants for child sexual assault and continuous sexual assault of a child. Authorities claim that his wife failed to report the alleged abuse, which occurred over several years. According to our news partner KETK, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office has announced that Filiberto Rodriguez Mora, 46, is currently evading capture and is wanted for:
- Sexual assault of a child with a bond of $500,000
- Continuous sexual abuse of a child with a bond of $750,000
- Assault causing bodily injury
Mora is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 250 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair. He may be driving a 2006 tan Toyota Sequoia. Deputies also said that Mora is an undocumented immigrant who was previously deported.
Claudia Erika Dominguez-LLanas, Mora’s wife, was arrested on Friday for abandonment or endangerment of a child with intent, knowledge, recklessness or criminal negligence in connection with the case.
According to an arrest affidavit, Dominguez-LLanas allegedly failed to report sexual abuse committed by Mora against one of her children and intentionally lied to investigators about her knowledge of the abuse. Court documents state she continued allowing Mora into her residence, giving him access to be alone with her children and exposing them to further risk.
Deputies responded to a Tyler residence on Jan. 6 to assist Child Protective Services with an investigation into the alleged assault of a child. CPS received a report alleging Mora had been abusing a teenage family member for several years, beginning when the child was about 11, and that he had offered money to the child in exchange for sexual favors.
Dominguez-LLanas initially told investigators that Mora had not lived with her or her children for several years and said he had been deported to Mexico. She denied knowing about the abuse allegations.
The report also alleges another underage family member was asked by Mora to engage in inappropriate acts. CPS conducted forensic interviews with Dominguez-LLanas’ children on Jan. 7. During one interview, a child said Dominguez-LLanas instructed them to claim Mora had been in Mexico for several years and offered food in exchange for lying.
Investigators confronted Dominguez-LLanas on Jan. 8 about coaching her children to lie. According to records, she admitted Mora had been living in the home and said he fled through the back door to avoid detection when officials first arrived.
Additional interviews with Mora’s family members revealed multiple allegations of abuse involving more than one child over several years. One case involved abuse reported between ages 11 and 16, with the most recent incident in September 2025. Another involved abuse reported from ages 14 to 17, with the most recent incident in December 2025. Investigators also reported that one victim possessed video evidence of the alleged abuse.
During a follow-up interview with CPS, Dominguez-LLanas admitted she had been aware of the abuse since at least 2019, following disclosures from one of the children and acknowledged lying to investigators, according to the arresting documents.
