WINNSBORO — One former Winnsboro ISD superintendent and another who had been placed on leave have been arrested again on Thursday, almost a month after their first arrests related to allegedly neglecting to report child abuse.
According to our news partner KETK, Brian Wilcox, a former superintendent of Winnsboro ISD and Aaron Nation, the current superintendent who was placed on administrative leave, were arrested on Thursday and charged with tampering/fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair and unlawful interception, use, or disclosure of wire, oral, or electronic communications.
They were booked into the Hopkins County jail with an undisclosed bond and have since been released, according to jail records.
Nation and Wilcox were first arrested on Jan. 12 for allegedly neglecting to report child abuse and attempting to hide related allegations of child abuse involving educators and students.
Arrest records revealed that Winnsboro ISD’s administration had known of a child abuse case regarding a coach and a student in May 2025, but were “attempting to conceal the abuse.” The affidavits also revealed that Nation had deleted all content from his cell phone, including communication related to the allegations of child abuse with Winnsboro ISD employees.
The school district released a statement on Thursday afternoon, saying they are aware of the investigation and continue to prioritize the education of their students.
“Our mission remains unchanged: to foster a community of lifelong learners by providing an environment that builds self-worth, integrity, and respect for others, while striving for academic and social excellence,” the school district said. “We will not allow anything or anyone to distract us from this mission.”
Winnsboro High School Principal Cody Holloway has been serving as acting superintendent amid this investigation.
