Athens drug bust involving cocaine, methATHENS — Three Athens residents were arrested on Tuesday after law enforcement executed two search warrants targeting potential drug distribution in the city.

According to our news partner KETK and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, investigators and deputies with the Sheriff’s Office, alongside officers from the Athens Police Department, carried out two separate narcotics search warrants. The first operation took place in the 500 block of St. Joseph Street. Investigators arrested Deanglo Russell and Bridget Fossis after they located crack cocaine that was prepackaged for sale, along with digital scales commonly used in narcotics distribution.

Russell and Fossis were transported to the Henderson County Jail, where they were booked on charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, authorities said.

A second search warrant was executed in the 800 block of East Charlie Street. During that search, officials said Brady Sharrod Harris was taken into custody. Investigators reported finding suspected crack cocaine, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana that was prepackaged and ready for sale, along with bags and scales used in drug distribution.

Harris was reportedly transported to the Henderson County Jail and booked on three counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.

Officials described the arrests as the result of a prolonged investigation into drug distribution activity in the area and part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal narcotics throughout Henderson County.

All three individuals are currently awaiting arraignment.

“This was a long drug-dealing operation that was brought down by a continuing campaign against narcotics in our county,” the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said. “Getting these suspects in jail and keeping them in jail until they can be brought to trial sends the right message to other dealers and user in this community. Henderson County is no place to be making, selling or using illegal drugs. The commitment to clean up this county is strong in our team.”
