UPDATE: Teen arrested for killing three in Nacodoches

UPDATE: The Nacogdoches Police Department has arrested Hector Cuarenta, 17 of Nacogdoches, in connection with the shooting deaths of three people on Friday.
Cuarenta was wanted in connection to the deaths of three people on Hackberry Street on Friday but turned himself into Nacogdoches PD on Sunday night. Cuarenta was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has been booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.
NACOGDOCHES COUNTY — As of 11:58 a.m., Fredonia Elementary has been placed on secure status, due to a shooting in the area confirmed to be a triple homicide. No one is allowed to enter or exit the campus until the secure status is lifted.
Nacogdoches ISD Police Department released a statement on Friday that the school is in a secure status following criminal activity in the area. Nacogdoches ISD Police said there is no current threat to the campus, but that they are taking precautions to ensure student and staff’s safety.
Nacogdoches Police Department released a statement regarding a shooting near the school. Officers are working a shooting in the 1000 block of Hackberry Street. Nacogdoches Police received a call around 10:30 a.m. that someone was shot. When officers arrived, they found 3 male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, with one being confirmed deceased. The other two were transported to the hospital but have since been confirmed to also have died.
Police believe this to be an isolated incident. The statement noted they do not believe there is a continued threat to the community.
Police are still searching for the suspect and are actively investigating. Nacogdoches ISD Police would like to notify parents that they are not allowing anyone to enter or exit the campus at this time and that if they are dropping off students to not bring them into the school until the secure has been lifted.
