CANTON — East Texas woman charged with misusing nonprofit fundsOur news partners at KETK report that an East Texas woman was indicted on Friday for allegedly withdrawing money from the Grand Saline Youth Foundation for personal use without authorization. The Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said Sheri Raylynn Roach, 47 of Grand Saline, the former treasurer for the nonprofit, is accused of withdrawing money from the Grand Saline Youth Foundation account without accounting to the foundation for the funds. The amount of misapplied funds is estimated to be between $2,500 and $30,000.

“Our evidence indicates Ms. Roach was the Treasurer of the Foundation from 2013 to 2020, but that during the last two years of that time she withdrew funds from the account for personal use,” Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry said.
New evidence regarding the death of his daughter may halt execution of East Texan Robert Roberson

Curry notes that although the range of loss for an offense at this level is wide, the evidence presented here shows a loss closer to the lower end than the higher. “With this type of case, one of the primary goals of prosecution is always to restore the funds to the charity. I am hopeful that can be accomplished here to support the Youth Foundation.”

Roach was taken to the Van Zandt County Jail on Oct. 3 for misapplication of fiduciary property and was released hours later.
